OMG I'M WRITING A JOURNAL ABOUT MY ART (and even art in general) ON DEVIANTART!

SHOCK!!!

Anyway, I'm pretty sure at one point I had a nice, organized essay thing planned, but I can't remember it. So this will be semi-ramblings occasionally put in some sort of order.

OKAY! Anyone who cares probably noticed my sudden influx of art, much of which was Avatar: The Last Air bender related, cause I have watched it and seen it's glory. But I (hopefully) shall not stop drawing Akatsuki stuff, cause that's probably why about, let's see, ALL of my watchers watch me.

And honestly (this is the ramble part), I've watched people for mostly that reason, and when they stopped making Akatsuki/Naruto stuff because they started to hate the Naruto series, I was very sad, because they made some very funny stuff. I still watch them all cause they all have talent, and it's definitely their own decision and I have no right for hating them for it (and I don't, I'm just sad)...

I just think it's aggravating, cause in my opinion, even if the actual series starts to suck, the point of fanart is to draw the characters you like, whatever way you want (and I mean drawing ANY pairing, totally reversing a characters personality, anything). I haven't read Naruto in forever, and Deidara "died" a long time ago, but that's exactly why art is awesome; you can keep the "dead" characters alive forever. It's still art. People who don't think fanart is "art", or even the really anal people who think that fanartists HAVE to portray a character EXACTLY as they are in the show really piss me off. If I want to draw Tobi as a cute, adorable, not Madara, Deidara-molesting ninja, THEN I HAVE THE RIGHT TO!!! Not that this is really a problem for me, since I have next to zero popularity and so very few people would ever feel the need to flame me, but I since am basically a fanartist, any flame I see against fanart (that isn't insulting a group/race/whatever) fuels my anger.

And halfway on the subject of Tobi, I'm starting to experience a (slightly) common aggravation that I've noticed other people have complained about: people tend to mostly favorite the random piece of crap that one puts on their account because they were bored, made it, and sort of liked it at the time. That's what happened with my Tobi/Madara picture: [link] (pfft now I'm making it more popular... oh well you need to know what I'm talking about for me to prove my point)

I mean, I liked it 2 years ago when I was freshly annoyed with the direction the Naruto manga was going (now I'm basically numb to it), but seriously? I spent next to no time on it!! THIS IS THE ONLY DRAWING THAT I'VE EVER COPIED AND PASTED!! OUT OF EVERYTHING I'VE DRAWN!!! EVER!! (photo manipulation doesn't count) Besides, it just plain looks ugly; the lines are scratchy, Tobi looks weird, Deidara is lopsided... the only one I like is Madara, cause I somehow made him cute!!!! I HATE HIS CHARACTER FOR PETE'S SAKE! It's not like my other deviations are masterpieces, but I've spent quality time on some of them and am really proud of them, and they get less than a passing glance!!

Of course, I think I know why the Tobi/Madara piece so (comparatively) popular... the people who agree with the "message" favorite it. Simple.

That's the thing about art sites; people generally like something not based on quality or hard work but the quick amusement/agreement we get from it (I definitely do that too, although in my defense usually the art is much, much better than in this case), so it's hard to get good critiques and stuff on the sites.

Also, I think that's why some people hate fanart; they feel like the fanartists are riding only on the popularity of the characters they draw. Which is certainly true of some. But again, if the fanartist has talent, and draws a character or something to improve/show off skills or just because they genuinely like to (ME ME!), then all that hate is just... grr.

Sorry if this was more rant-y than you like. It got much more angry and out of control than I expected.

And it certainly isn't organized.

And I use way too many vague descriptions ("probably", "generally", and "usually" are my favorite words )

And there are to many run-ons and sentences starting with "and".

And it's kind of pointless, since so few people will read it, probably ()....but hey, you never know. Some random person might be passing by, be vaguely interested, and glean a few insights on...whatever. So it's worth it.
